Run Your Pack is excited to announce our new ‘Wilderness Immersion’ board and train package. What does this mean for your dog? Well, in a nutshell, it means that you, the human, may just be jealous about where your dog gets to stay while they are being trained…
Set back in a secluded setting in the mountains of western Montana: your dog will get 1 on 1 training and care while they run in the woods, drink from a fresh mountain creek and sleep right in the trainer’s home: a peaceful and picturesque 30’ yurt.
This rural setting allows for a low stress environment conducive to relaxing and learning new things. Sessions are all private: RYP does not do group classes – imagine trying to learn something new in a stressful unnatural environment with a bunch of other stressed out students…lets just say that chaos is equivalent to = teaching math to 8 year olds on a roller coaster!
Training is done 1 on 1 keeping in mind each dogs style of learning and motivation. Sessions are held multiple times a day. They are short, engaging and most of all fun! We call this immersion training and there is absolutely no better way to educate your dog on new behaviors and commands.
During the stay your dog will learn:
The Climb : hold position on an elevated surface until given release command. This is incredibly handy – think of it as a base that the dog recognizes that can be brought to different areas of the house, office or even camping!
The Sit and The Down : These commands will be taught to be held until given release command. We don’t teach stay – stay becomes a given as the command must be held until dog is realeased.
Recall : Dog learns to come when called
Loose Leash Walking : Ready to not get yanked down the road?
We also offer behavior modification for those dogs that have more specific needs. And because your dog will be living in home with the trainer, specific 'in home' issues and manners can be addressed.
Does your dog:
Bolt out doors?
Jump on counters?
Greet guests inappropriately (jumping, mouthing etc)?
Exhibit resource guarding (food, toys)?
No problem. Manners and issues mentioned above will be addressed in addition to learning commands.
After we have trained your dog, then we get to train you! This aspect of dog training is SOOO vital to the continued success of both you and your dog. RYP programs are geared towards making sure you, the owner, learns and understands the training concepts and will go home confident and excited to continue training and establishing a healthy pack dynamic. Each week of board and train comes with a free private training session in your home. Here is an example of how a RYP program would be set up for a 2-week board and train:
